Infrequent to rare throughout its range, this herbaceous biennial vine is endangered in Maine. Also called climbing fumitory, this inconspicuous vine has white to pink flowers that droop from delicate stems. It prefers cool, moist shady sites.
Native to: Upper Midwest and Northeast, including Maine
Growing conditions: Part shade to shade in medium soils
Natural habitat: disturbed areas, thickets, rocky wooded slopes, rocky summits and outcrops
Grows up to: climbs 2-12’
Blooms: June - October
Pairs well with: Red baneberry, wild ginger, wild leek, goldenseal, northern maidenhair fern
